Rita G. Mills' Obituary
Kittery - Rita G. Mills passed away peacefully on Friday March 3, 2017 at the age of 93. Rita was born on July 15,1923 in Somerville Ma. the daughter of the late William Holland and Grace (Murray) Holland.
She graduated from Somerville High School in 1941, went to work for the A&P bakery, then went on to meet the love of her life Robert J. Mills Jr. they were married on Dec. 29th. 1945 and settled in Kittery Maine to raise their family.
She was a parishioner of St. Raphael's Church for many years. She was an avid reader enjoyed tending to her tomato garden, and going out to lunch with friends.
Rita is survived by her son John Mills of Windham, Maine, daughter Joanne (Jim) Rutherford of York, Maine. Grandchildren Stephanie Mills, Nichole (Adam) Hilbourne, Jesse (Jessica) Rutherford; Great Grandchildren Amity, Haylee, Lacey, Allison, Jack, and Anna.
She was predeceased by her husband Robert J. Mills Jr. in 1960, and her son Robert J. Mills III in 2000.
A special thank you to everyone at Durgin Pines for the exceptional care and compassion they have given to my mother during the last 7+ years.
A graveside service for family & friends will be announced in the Spring. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to Durgin Pines Activities Fund, 9 Lewis Rd. Kittery, Maine 03904.
