Kittery - Robert (Bob) Frederick Bell, 94, of Goodrich Street in Kittery died peacefully on November 3, 2017 at Durgin Pines, following a period of failing health, and was surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 24, 1923 in Revere Beach, MA, he was a son of Edward and Ellen (Conrad) Bell and attended local schools. He was one of fourteen children.
He married his beloved wife, Ella (McLane) Bell in 1943 and shortly after joined the US Navy and served his country as a Coxswain during World War II. They became residents of Kittery for many years raising their seven children. He was employed at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for 30 years as a painter/sandblaster on the submarines retiring in 1981. He was an active communicant at St. Raphaels Church in Kittery for many years serving in a number of capacities. He was an accomplished artist, wood carver, and a past member of the Kittery Art Association. He was a carpenter extraordinaire, a loyal avid red sox fan, a humorist, and had devoted love for animals, nature and the ocean. Being with family is what he cherished the most.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, and infant daughter Susan, and most recently his son in law, Robert (Bob) Daskoski.
He is survived by his children Kathryn Oxford and partner George Boyle, Sandra Daskoski, Linda Jellison and husband Duane, Roberta Thomas and husband Alan, Nancy Kingsbury and husband Dan, Robert Bell, Jr., and Kimberly Bell; his two sisters, Lorraine Byrne and Rosemary Cavanaugh. He had 20 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and his long time friend Betty Wholey.
A special thanks is extended to the staff at Durgin Pines for the exceptional care he received.
Friends are invited to visit with his family on Wednesday, November 8 th , from 4-6pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine where a funeral will be held at 6 pm . Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com . In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the NH SPCA, or charity of one's choice. Care for the Bell family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home.Visits: 0
