Obituary

Kittery - Robert J Cejka, PNCS USN(Ret), aged 78, of Kittery, passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital. He was born July 16, 1938 in Schenectady, NY, a son of Joseph L. and Ludmilla(Horinka) Cejka. Robert served his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Senior Chief in 1976 after 20 years of service. He was predeceased by his wife, Irene "Renie" Cejka on June 20, 2015. They were married 53 years. Robert is survived by his three children, daughter Terri(Matt), and sons Robert(Lisa) and Scott(Sarah); four Grandchildren, Lindsay, James, Ludmilla, and Maizy; His sister Toni, and many nieces and nephews. After retirement from the Navy, Robert began a 20 year career with the US Postal Service as a letter carrier in Portsmouth, NH. He was an avid golfer, and for over 40 years he was instrumental in the management of the Seacoast Military Retired Golf League at Pease. He also served as President of the National Association of Letter Carriers for a number of years, was active alongside his wife with Operation Blessing of Portsmouth, and was a member of St.Raphael's Catholic Church in Kittery.

A time of visitation will be held from 4-6PM on Tuesday, November 8, 2016 at J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road , Kittery. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at St. Raphael Church, 6 Whipple Road , Kittery. Interment with Military Honors will be in Brooks Memorial Park, Eliot.  In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to either the Alzheimer's Association or to the Seacoast Military Retired Golf League at 200 Grafton Rd,Portsmouth NH. 03801 .
