Robert Lewis
Secrest
Jul 1, 1937 — Jul 12, 2026
Fernandina Beach, FL
It is with profound sadness and deep faith that we share the passing of Robert (Bob) Lewis Secrest, 89, who was called home to be with the Lord on July 12, 2026, in Fernandina Beach, Florida. Though we grieve, we take comfort knowing he is now in the presence of the Lord and rejoice in the promise of eternal life.
Born on July 1, 1937, in West Linn, Oregon, the eldest son of Olga Lena (Brog) and Lewis Ashton Secrest. After graduating from high school, he went on to pursue a career in the Air Force to which he dedicated himself 20 years of service. Afterwards, he worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, NH in Shop 07, retiring after 18 years as General Foreman. After retiring, he and his wife moved to Florida to become "snowbirds" spending their time in both Maine and Florida.
His hands have built more than walls – they have built a life of purpose and integrity. It is a testament to patience, skill, and the quiet strength of doing what matters. His work reflected a blend of technical mastery and thoughtful detail with much inspiration from his wife!
Bob is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 67 years, Marilyn (Hoyt) Secrest; their 3 children, Bonnie O'Connor, Kenneth Secrest, and Melinda Murphy (Anthony Murphy); 7 grandchildren, Christopher, Daniel (Tiffany), Joshua (Devon), Jonathan (Tonya), Jennifer (Ricky), Erik (Elissa), and Sophie (Todd); 12 great-grandchildren, Phoebe, Mackenzie, Dylan, Elizabeth, Paisley, Enzo, Charlotte, Oona, Finnegan, Liam, Penelope, & Madelyn; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Ellyana. He is also survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Irene Tibbetts, and Barbara Philbrook; and 1 brother-in-law, Steven Philbrook as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, a brother, and his beloved dog Tasha, now reunited in Heaven.
While we grieve his passing, we find solace in the hope of Christ’s resurrection and the assurance that we will one day be reunited in God’s eternal kingdom. Rest in peace, your memory will live on in our hearts forever.
The family will hold a Celebration of His Life later date to be determined.
