Roberta "Bobbie"
Janette Jardine
Aug 27, 1930 — Aug 8, 2024
Roberta "Bobbie" Janette Jardine, 93, of Dresden, Maine passed away in her sleep on August 8, 2024.
Born in Craftsbury, Vermont on August 27, 1930 to Leo West Williams and Alice Ariel (Pike). Raised on a dairy farm with her siblings Wendell, Clarence, Harland "Hap" and Marita.
Roberta is preceded in death by her husband, Walter, whom she was obsessed with since the day they met on a blind date in 1957. They were together for 55 years and she missed him every day after he passed away in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandson, Cole Jardine.
Roberta graduated from Craftsbury Academy and Lyndon Teachers College in Vermont. She taught school for quite a few years, even as she raised her sons, Paul and Peter. They made their home in Eliot, Maine for 60 years, before she moved to Dresden, Maine to live with Peter's family. Walter was an avid skier, so they also spent half their life together "upta camp" at Sugarloaf with their many skiing family friends.
Roberta also worked as an airline stewardess and for Sugarloaf Mountain, the National Park Service and the Maine Information Center. She loved to travel, painting tin art, reading novels, and holding tea parties for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a frequent patron of the William Fogg Library in Eliot and has her own memorial brick there. She was also active with family genealogy with her son, Paul. Last summer, she was the oldest member at the Pike Family Reunion.
When she made a friend, it was for a lifetime. She was also the matriarch for her family, even after her siblings had passed away. She loved all of her nieces and kept in close touch with them.
Roberta is survived by her sons, Paul and Donna of Rehoboth, MA, and Peter and AnnMarie of Dresden, ME. Grandchildren Timothy and Lindsay Jardine, Ashley Jardine and Jeremy Breau, Daniel and Trish Jardine, Christie and Keith Hunt, Allison Jardine, and Rebekah and Eric Morris. Great-grandchildren Makayla, Ava, Bode, Leo and Gus.
You are invited to a service to be held at Brooks Memorial Cemetery located at 1129 State Road in Eliot, Maine on Saturday, 28 September at 1 pm. There will be a "tea party" gathering afterwards at the Eliot Baptist Church, 912 Harold L Dow Highway, Eliot, Maine. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in both Walter and Roberta's memories to the American Parkinson Disease Association (www.apdaparkinson.org).
