Kittery, ME - Roger Stan Boutot, 85, Passed away on the 8th of February, 2022, at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, Florida with his family by his side.
Born February 16, 1936 in Fort Kent, ME to Ernestine (Bernier) Boutot and Omer Boutot, both of Fort Kent. Roger "Stan" was the oldest of nine siblings. He Leaves behind three sisters and three brothers, Carol Allen, Marie Bagley, Theresa Fergus, Ronald Boutot, Edward Boutot and James Boutot. His Predeceased siblings were Raymond Boutot and Larry Boutot.
After the eighth grade, Roger left school to help his dad logging in the woods of northern Maine. His job was to manage the large draft horses, and although it was grueling work, he enjoyed every moment and would still talk about those horses throughout his life. In his late teens he joined the Marine Corps where he served his country during the Korean War.
Roger married the love of his life Joan (Damboise) Boutot in Caribou, Maine April 1, 1959 at Sacred Heart Church. They ventured to Kittery where they started a family and Roger built their home by hand. He became an active member at Saint Raphael's Catholic Church, taking part in prayer meetings and giving communion during Sunday morning services. He was so proud to join the Knights of Columbus in 1971 and became an Honorary Life Member in the Fourth Degree.
Roger became a carpenter by trade building numerous homes in the Kittery area and was proud of the extensive renovation work he once performed on Boon Island Lighthouse in York. He eventually was hired at Dion's Yacht Yard in Kittery Point, where his knowledge in custom carpentry was a vital asset to the busy boat yard. His skilled craftsmanship and detail were key to creating fine woodworking in yachts and sailboats from around the world. He worked at Dion's for 30 years until his retirement.
After losing the love of his life, Joan, in 2006, Roger followed his dreams of one day living in sunny Florida and moved to St. Petersburg. He loved soaking in the Florida sun and enjoyed time with his close friends at his condo complex, where he lived out his remaining years.
Roger leaves behind five children: daughter Brenda Iwans and husband Kevin of North Carolina; daughter Janna "Alayah" Dornheim and husband Kurt of Alabama; son Roger Boutot, Jr. and wife Kristi of West Virginia; daughter Debra Boutot and husband Bret Taylor of Kittery; and daughter Jessica Leslie and husband Ben of Tamworth, NH. He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Joan (Damboise) Boutot in 2006.
Services – A wake will be held on Thursday, February 17, 2022, from 5-7pm at the J S Pelkey and Son Funeral Home, located at 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, ME 03904. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the following morning, Friday February 18, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Raphael's Catholic Church
6 Whipple Rd, Kittery, ME 03904. A luncheon will immediately follow the mass.
