Rolande
Lafrance
Aug 26, 1928 — Apr 5, 2021
Dover, NH - It is with great sadness that the family of Rolande T. (Houde) LaFrance announces her passing at age 92 on Monday, April 5, 2021, after a period of declining health.
She was born in Springvale, Maine, to Oscar J. and Alice (Binette) Houde Roy. She spent her childhood on the family's dairy farm in Somersworth. She received her teaching credentials in Canada and, following her marriage, moved with her family to Fitchburg, MA, then Nashua, NH where she was a second-grade teacher at St. Louis de Gonzague Elementary School. She loved to sing, had a beautiful voice and was a soloist with the St. Louis Church choir. After retirement, they settled in Rochester, to care for her mother, where she was a communicant of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, involving herself in various committees. Resettling in Dover, she resided at Riverview, making close friendships. She attended St. Mary Church. After her husband's death, she relocated to Bishop Gendron Apartments and St. Ann Rehabilitation and Nursing Center where she received wonderful, personal care.
Rolande had many hobbies, some of which included knitting, needlepoint, puzzles and cake decorating the wedding cakes for her children.
She loved to travel, especially to visit her children in California, New Mexico, Texas, Kansas and Florida. She traveled to Hawaii, Nassau, Bermuda, France, Morocco, Spain, the Holy Land, Medjugorje and made many pilgrimages to the shrines throughout Quebec.
The true meaning of love is the lasting imprint you leave on your children's hearts. Forever missed and never forgotten.
She is survived by her children, Marc P. (Maureen) LaFrance of Atlantic Beach, NC, Gisele (Bernard) Tisserand of Exeter, NH, Monique LaFrance (Gary Lee) of Tecumseh, KS, and George Barton (Carol Schauf) of Naples, FL; grandchildren Sean (Rocio) LaFrance, Ryan (Alicia) LaFrance, Caitlin (Jeffrey) Gray, Jessica Barton, Philip (Lauren) Barton, Luc Pourmirza, Andre Pourmirza, Hannah Lee and Matthew Lee; great-grandchildren Alanna LaFrance Gray and Elizabeth Susan Barton.
She is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, George H. LaFrance, and suffered the tremendous loss of her eldest daughter, Susan Marie LaFrance Barton. She is also predeceased by her parents and her brothers, Marcel (Madeleine) Houde and Paul Houde.
Funeral arrangements will be private. Memorial donations may be made in her name to Saint Ann Rehabilitation and Nursing Center Activities Department, 195 Dover Point Road, Dover, NH 03820-4693. Care for the LaFrance family has been entrusted to the Bernier/J S Pelkey and Son Funeral Home.
