Obituary

RONALD THEODORE HYSON Kittery - Ronald Theodore Hyson 79, of Kittery, went to Heaven on Friday, September 18, 2015 at the Maplewood Center in Amesbury, Massachusetts surrounded by his loving family. He was born on December 26, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland the son of Theodore & Lillian Hyson. He leaves behind his wife of 54 years, Ralphine (Furrow) Hyson of Kittery, Maine and sons Ralph and wife Becky (Paul) Hyson and their children Ryan and Abby of South Berwick, Maine; Mark and wife Laura (French) Hyson and their children Katie and Libby of Dover, New Hampshire. Other surviving family members include his brothers Richard and Robert and their families of Ocean City, Maryland. Sisters Charlotte & Joan as well as his father Theodore and mother Lillian are awaiting his heavenly arrival. Ron enjoyed spending time with his family as well as fishing and working outdoors. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1958. His first duty was as a guard stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard Prison. He spent 14 months serving our country in the Vietnam War and retired from the Corps in 1969. Once he completed 4 months as a Naval Reserve Recruiter, he then actively enlisted in the U.S. Navy and went to sea aboard the USS America based out of Norfolk, Virginia. He retired as a Master of Arms Chief in August of 1980 from South Weymouth, Massachusetts Naval Air Station. After his military retirement, he went to work as a submarine painter and tool crib coordinator at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He retired from the shipyard in 1998. Ron was a Disabled American Veteran. He was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1999 and complications of this disease eventually took his life. He will be missed by many family members and friends, including those of Faith Baptist Church in Kittery, Maine. Visiting Hours will be on Thursday, September 24, 2015 in the J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home on 125 Old Post Road in Kittery, Maine 03904 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A full military funeral will be held at the Faith Baptist Church located at 22 Litchfield Road in Kittery, Maine on Friday, September 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM. Pastors Moore, Lloyd, and Kauffman will officiate. Burial will follow at Brook's Memorial Cemetery on State Road in Eliot, Maine following the funeral service.
