Kittery- Ross James Turco, 92, passed away February 26 2023. He was born on December 12, 1930 in Mt. Holly Vermont.
Ross married his loving wife of sixty seven years Joyce M. Carlson and together they settled in Kittery and raised their two daughters.
Ross was a proud Marine serving his Country during the Korean Conflict. Over the years he acquired many wonderful friends, always there to teach them to be a true friend in return.
He and Joyce loved to travel visiting many countries together. Together with their many exchange students from Germany, Macedonia, Sweden, Italy and Brazil they shared the US culture and loved to entertain with his famous " Lobster Parties" which he loved to share. He enjoyed entertaining the students while they were here, including camping trips which weren't really his favorite as he always said with a smile "he did enough of it in the Marines"
Ross enjoyed many skills earning awards and certificates for his talent and skill as a mechanic, plumber, carpenter and genuine Jack of all trades. He was able to use all his skills to build his own homes .
Ross worked at and owned many auto garages over the years as a Volkswagen Mechanic, foreman and later in his career Service Manager, including, Lindholm's in Rutland, Shelton Motors in Portsmouth, and Seacoast Motors where he served as service manager for fifteen years. He then opened his own garage "The Village Garage " in Kittery while also operating a garage in Portsmouth and ran them for a number of years.
Ross then obtained his Plumbing license and began working at the University of New Hampshire for many years, retiring after fifteen years of service.
He enjoyed music and was an accomplished violinist, guitar and piano player especially enjoying the music of Pavarotti and Bocelli.
He is survived by his loving wife Joyce, daughter Patricia Turco Sullivan, grandchildren; Michael Miller and Erick Sullivan, great grandchildren; Samantha, Raylene, Hayden and Eden Miller, siblings; Philip and Sandra Turco, and Edward and Adria Picard. Ross was predeceased by his parents, daughter Maureen Turco Connor, son in law Michael Sullivan, siblings Ruth, Paul, Evelyn, Charles, Delmar, Robert and Donald.
