Obituary

Kittery, ME – Roy B. Schiff, 53, died unexpectedly July 19, 2020 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, NH.  He was born on January 13, 1967 in Pittsburg, PA, the son of Rein and Bonnie Anne (Vernau) Schiff.  He is survived by his wife Eileen, daughters Chaparral and Nicole, sister Tina and husband Michael and Leonard the family dog.

Roy graduated from Carrick High School.  He later attended West Virginia University and earned his bachelor's degree.  He worked as a cartographer and a teacher. He was a lifeguard, personal trainer, swim teacher and swim coach. He also served In the United States Navy as a Seabee Builder.

In 2001 he moved to Hawaii and met a lovely wahine, Eileen, whom he chose to marry, the most wonderful woman to be his partner in his life's adventure of good, bad, ugly and happy.

He attended Lakehurst Presbyterian Church in New Jersey and Faith Baptist church in Kittery, Maine. He found comfort in listening to the sermons on Joel Osteen Ministries. He loved learning about God and Jesus even though sometimes it did not make sense.

He was a loving husband, father, and friend.  He was handsome, strong, and athletic. He was perseverant. Sometimes people did not understand him. He got funnier as he got older. He never wanted to burden people with his pain.

Roy loved to swim, cook, read, draw, build, and most of all spend time with his family. He loved nature (God's creation). He enjoyed whitewater rafting, waterparks, traveling, hot springs. He loved playing chess and scrabble with his lovely girls. His drink of choice was water.  His favorite food was pork tenderloin and roasted potatoes and carrots.  He like junior mints and chocolate ice cream.  Each day he and Leonard took walks around the neighborhood. Roy prepared the best homemade pizza, egg and cheese omelets and smoothies. He liked to squeeze fresh oranges.  He also enjoyed finding new reading material at the public library.

Roy was thankful for the following people who inspired him especially during his last year of his life.  Thank you to Eileen, who was a faithful and loyal bride who was his greatest support; his daughters who gave him purpose; Leonard who would never say no to a walk; Brent who has been a good friend throughout the years; Phil who was his friend since high school; Rich his friend since college, John Kelly of Kailua, Hawaii who was his friend and imparted wisdom in his life; Charles and Cheryl who were so kind; Terry and Matt; the Rutter family who were the best neighbors; Dr. Tring who told him the truth; Dr. Sandler who was encouraging; Dr. Lewis, Dr. Mazzini The Tufts medical center team, Our family in Christ and President Donald Trump whom he thought was the best president in his entire lifetime.

If you would like to do a good deed be an organ donor and save a life. Do good, repent of your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. I'm glad my wife asked me that question.

His Memorial Service will be held on July 30, 2020 at J.S. Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery, ME 03904. Public viewing starts at 1330; memorial service will be at 1400-1500.

We will remember Roy.  He will forever be with us. He is with Papa and Jesus.  Until we meet again.  Aloha 'Oe.  A Hui Hou.
