South Berwick - Ruth Ann (Brewster) Nettles of South Berwick passed away August 4, 2021, after a long period of failing health.

Ruth was born July 3,1941 to Harry L.and Blanche R.Brewster. She grew up in Somersworth, New Hampshire with her three siblings, William, Robert and Shirley, where she graduated from Somersworth High School. Ruth would then go on to meet James Nettles, the love of her life, spending 59 years together until his passing.. She was a typical mother of three, and housewife through the 60's.Ruth then entered the workforce, which included Somersworth Shoe, Baron Rubber, Maine National Bank, and retired from Sears Roebuck.

Ruth was an avid crafter, oil painting, slate stenciling, and her cheesecake and holiday fruitcakes were sought out by family and friends. She enjoyed traveling with James and family, her favorites were the beaches of Cape Cod and Florida. Also leaf peeping in Rockland, Maine. Ruth always looked forward to springtime when "her" Baltimore oriels, finches and hummingbirds would flock to her feeders. She embraced her role as Grandmother to her three grandsons.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, husband James, brother William Brewster and sister Shirley Browning.

She is survived by her children, James R.Nettles of Berwick Me., Gregory A.Nettles of El Dorado Ar. and Leann Russell of South Berwick.  Grandsons, Cameron Russell, Dylan Russell and Robert Nettles. Her brother Robert and wife Sara Brewster and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service for Ruth and her husband James will take place on Friday August 13 ^th , at 1pm at the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home, 125 Old Post Road, Kittery, Maine. Burial and a Graveside will take place immediately following the service at Brooks Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation be made to the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, 321 Port Road, Wells, 04090.
