Sam Giese, 52, died at the end of March 2024 from a long-standing medical condition. He was a devoted dad to his dogs Bear and Ozzy and loved his friends, family and home in Eliot, Maine.

As an accomplished baker, he was an integral part of Pentimento Restaurant in Cambridge and Belmont, where his creations contributed to winning two Best of Boston awards, of which he was extremely proud.

Sam loved his collection of automobiles, especially his 1987 Lotus Esprit, but his dogs were most important to him, as lifelong companions who were always by his side. His first black lab, Bear was always in his heart. As were his subsequent dogs, James, Chancey, White Dog, Bear II and Ozzy; as well as Cat, a cat who adopted him.

He leaves a grieving family and friends from his school and work life.

Sam is survived by his mom, Diane Giese; his dad, Ted Giese and wife Barbara Schulman; his brother Ert Giese and partner Biz McConchie who have adopted Sam's dogs; and his nephews Jack and Owen Giese.

A celebration of his life will be held at The Trust, 81 Main St, Maynard MA on June 8, 2024 from 2:00-5:00pm. He will be interred at Woodlawn Cemetery in Wellesley MA next to his beloved Grampa Bob and the Giese family. Donations may be made in his memory to your local animal shelter or food pantry.
