Obituary

Kittery:  Sandra J. Chick, the daughter of Wylie E. Brewster and Mary M. (Rose) Brewster died Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Durgin Pines Nursing Home Kittery Maine.  She was born in Portsmouth NH December 23, 1942.  She attended Portsmouth schools graduating from Portsmouth High School in the class of 1960.  Sandra graduated from Keene State College of the University of NH system with a Bacheler of Education in 1964.  From 1964 to 1969 she taught English and Social Studies at Portsmouth Junior High School.  In 1966 became wife of Alfred H. Chick and stopped teaching in 1969 to raise her sons.  She returned to teaching in 1985 after the death of her husband.  She taught English from 1985 to 1990 at the Portsmouth Middle School.  Sandra worked many years at Little Harbor School and Dondero School as a Title I Reading Tutor in the Portsmouth School system.  She was a member of St. John's church for many years.  Favorite pastimes include spending time with family and friends, cooking and attending local plays and band concerts in the seacoast area.

Sandra was survived by her beloved sons Christopher M. Chick of Kittery ME, Judson A. Chick and his wife Tammy J. Chick of Farmington, NH.  Grandchildren Mark A. Rines, Haley L. Rines and Hannah M. Chick.  Brother William M. Brewster and wife Margaret Sousa of California.  Sister-in-Law Helen C. Brewster of Greenland, NH.  Sister-in-laws Jean Emery of Kittery Point ME, Priscilla Cobb and husband Earl Cobb of Kittery, ME.  Nephews Jason T. Brewster and wife Trisha A. Brewster and children Coleman P. and Pia R. Brewster of Portsmouth, NH.  Mathew W. Brewster and wife Michelle A. Brewster and sons Parker D. and Connor T. Brewster of Portsmouth NH.  Very special friend of many years Ted Barton of Portsmouth, NH.  Cousins Connie Bushman and husband Robert Bushman of Portsmouth, NH.  Pat Csernelabics of Portsmouth, NH.  Lillian and John Barnes of Florida.  Several other nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband Alfred H. Chick; mother Mary M. Brewster, Father Wylie E. Brewster, and Brother Thomas J. Brewster.  Cousins Jane and Tim Moore.  Sister and brother in laws Millie and Howe Stebbins, Gert and Ken O'sullivan, Graceanna and Archie Cobb, and Robert Emery.

A graveside service for friends and family will be held at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Eliot ME on Thursday October 26, 2017.  A reception will follow at McPherson Hall on State Road in Eliot, ME.  Flowers are appreciated or a donation may be made to the NHSPCA in memory of Sandra J. Chick.
