Obituary

Stephen Samborski, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, mentor, teacher, hockey coach, pioneer, and fabulous storyteller, passed away on November 28, 2023. Steve, Stevie, and Gragra (affectionately known by his grandkids) lived a full and exciting life. He was a Harvard collegiate athlete, class of 1966, excelling in crew and hockey. He met his wife, Lisa, on a blind date, and they married six months later. It was love at first sight while watching "Rosemary's Baby." Steve's two greatest joys were his family and his passion for education. His career took him from teaching English and history to guidance counseling and being the Head of Schools, a position that spanned over 30 years. He had a deep connection with nature, the outdoors, and everything it entailed. His passion for storytelling enthralled all, from children to adults alike. He even had a few convinced he could speak Navajo. Steve loved it when his daughters brought friends home because he could show off his cooking skills (especially over an open fire), but more so because he loved having a household full of chaos. He is survived by a loving family that extends beyond blood. He was a brilliant man who touched the hearts and lives of those who met him. He will be missed by many and loved by all.
