Susan Ann Neville Box, age 74, resident of Kittery, Maine, after one year of Hospice Care, on Tuesday, August 5, 2026, passed away peacefully in her home.
Sue was born on August 24, 1951, born in Beverly, Massachusetts, to Lorraine (Francier) and Danielle Neville. She had two older brothers, Thomas and Michael Neville. She married her wonderful husband, Leonard F. Box Jr., from Beverly, Massachusetts, on April 17, 1971, in Salem, Massachusetts. Together they were blessed with two sons, Leonard F. Box Jr. in 1972 and Jeffrey N. Box in 1973. They started their lives in Beverly, Massachusetts; in 1985, the family moved to their home at 10 Mill Pond Road, Kittery, Maine.
Susan was multi-talented and enjoyed creating many crafty items such as quilts, Cricket items, knitting, embroidery, and painting. She was also very proud of her BS degree in Psychology and Special Education through a program called the “Rural Special Educator Program” at the University of Maine, Farmington. In addition to teaching Special Education, Sue was also a Dog Trainer for PETCO. Sue loved animals and had many dogs and cats of her own over the years; her Golden Retrievers were well loved.
Sue’s heart was broken when her youngest son, Jeffrey, passed in 2012 from complications of a birth defect which he struggled with throughout his life.
Sue found a new passion when she joined the Portsmouth Moose Club in Kittery in 2018. Her longtime friend, Lisette Gould Nash, introduced her to the organization, and Sue quickly became a Lifetime member, rising to Regent due to her level of participation and volunteering.
Sue’s life ended when she suffered from ALZHEIMER'S. Beacon Hospice workers and Home Instead in Wells workers were the angels who helped Lisette take care of Sue until her last day. Because of this care, Sue passed peacefully, allowing her to join her parents, husband, and Son, Jeffrey, in Heaven.
Sue is survived by her eldest son, Lenny F. Box; his wife, Kathy; her brother, Michael; her good friend, Lisette; her husband, Lenny F. Box Sr.; and her beloved son, Jeffrey Box. Sue was never blessed with grandchildren, and Sue was predeceased by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, Kittery, Maine.
