Obituary

York, ME - Terry Allen Adams, 75, died October 21 at his home after a period of failing health. He was born in York on May 4, 1946 the son of the late James D. and Lucy (Poirier) Adams. He grew up in Kittery Point and attended Kittery schools with the class of 1965. He began lobstering at age 8 and operated Adams Plumbing and Heating in York until health problems forced him into retirement in the nineties. He served his Country with the U.S. Navy SeaBees in Vietnam, later suffering the effects of exposure to Agent Orange.

He loved his family, his animals, his friends and his camp at Bodfish Valley, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and canoeing. He was a softball coach, Little League sponsor and Scout leader. His many talents included making furniture and cabinets out of figured wood, and weaving brown ash baskets (from felling the tree to weaving the baskets).

Terry paid tribute to his late son, Jim, as a "Trail Angel" providing "Trail Magic" at his camp near the Appalachian Trail. He and his friend, Dan, and dog, Chaske, were named "Best Trail Angels" in the January 2017 issue of Backpacker magazine.

He leaves his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Doyle) Adams, his son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Sheila and their children, Corby and Emerson. He also leaves his daughter, Lyn, and her children, Natalie, Christopher, Hillary, Andrew and Amanda, two sisters, Janet Adams and Linda Marsh and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents, his son, Jim, and brother James E. Adams.
