Somersworth - Theresa (Turmelle) Giroux, 90 of 191 Maple Street died Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital after a brief illness. As a lifelong resident of Somersworth, she was born March 17, 1928 and is the daughter of Ernestine (Dusseault) and Albert "Stoney" Turmelle. She was affectionately known as the 'lunch lady' at Somersworth Middle School and worked for Spellman shoe store. She is a communicant of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish.

Family members include a son, Normand Paul Giroux of Rollinsford, a daughter-in-law, Lisa C. Chagnon, a grandson, Jonathan-Paul N. Giroux, a sister, Rita Landry, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Turmelle both of Somersworth and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Paul E. Giroux, a sister, Florence Giroux of Somersworth, and her brother Albert "Bob" Turmelle.

Known for her witty zings and infectious sense of humor, she was a true inspiration for her friends and family.  She was kind, loving, and unselfish with everyone including random telemarketers.

Anyone who came to visit, never left with an empty stomach and she made sure her candy bowl was full for all.  She held true to her faith for her entire life. She was a gifted card player and spent many hours relieving her friends of their loose change. The emptiness in her heart from the loss of her husband, was replaced by the birth of her only grandson in 2005. As her pride and joy, no one adored JP more than her.  In her eyes, he could do no wrong.  Each weekend they would watched cartoons and play cards for hours, laughing together in the way best friends often do.

Her ascension to heaven is to be celebrated.

Services - Wear your purple, and come join us for a mass of Christian burial at 10:30 am Thursday, June 21, at St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish St Martin Church, 120The Maple Street, Somersworth NH.
