Theresa
Poulin
Oct 13, 1928 — Aug 25, 2021
Poulin, Theresa A. – died August 25 th at Wentworth Douglas Hospital. She was born in Portsmouth, NH on October 13, 1928, the middle child of Thomas L. Harvey and Helen C. Hanson.
Growing up, she lived with her sisters and brother next door to aunts and uncles on Woodbury Ave in Portsmouth. The liquor store at the Portsmouth rotary was her backyard. At sixteen she went to work for the New England Telephone & Telegraph Co. in downtown Portsmouth, as an operator. She loved her job and stayed there for forty years, retiring in 1987.
In 1955, she married Alfred Poulin, a Marine she'd met at a shipyard dance two years earlier. In the early sixties, they built their dream home on Dion Ave, which was their pride and joy. When they retired, they took many trips, but none compared to their excursions along the Maine Coast to Bar Harbor. She loved the state of Maine.
As a graduate of Portsmouth High School, she enjoyed attending their reunions. She was a member of Pioneers of America, and organization of retired telephone operators. She was also an usher at her church, St. Raphael's in Kittery.
She was predeceased by her husband Al, whom she missed dearly, her brother, Thomas L. Harvey and her sister, Audrey Wilkinson, who died in May. She leaves behind her last remaining sibling, Helena Hackney of Kittery Point.
Theresa, never having children of her own, 'adopted' her nieces and nephews, Thomas Hackney, Nancy (Hackney) Estes, Kathy (Wilkinson) Pridham, Beth (Wilkinson) Craig and John (Jackie) Wilkinson.
She was also very close to some of her great nieces and nephews; Jamie Perron, who spent endless time with them and looked up to Uncle Al as a father figure, Carrie (Perron) Emmons and Katie (Perron) Paris, who she lived with and was a caregiver for her the last couple of years. She also had a special relationship with her great, great niece and nephew, Max Perron and Meagan (Perron) Sawyer, who enjoyed many dinners and games of Monopoly with them. She loved her family fiercely.
A graveside service will be held, Monday, August 30 th , at 11:00 AM, at the family plot in Calvary Cemetery in Portsmouth, NH. Everyone is welcome.
