Eliot-Thomas Handy Burbank, 91, of Eliot, Maine passed away March 30. Tom was born in Stoneham, Massachusetts to the late Thomas and Euphemia Burbank. Tom served in the US Army during the Korean War and later attended the University of New Hampshire as well as Keene State College and the University of Maine. Tom married Nancy Burbank in 1957 and had three daughters, living in Gorham, Hampton and North Hampton New Hampshire. Tom held many jobs in his life, working for Fuller brush, DC health, Merrill Publishing and Staff Development for Educators. However, his passion was as a principal serving in Gorham, Hampton and North Hampton, New Hampshire and later in Berkshire, Vermont. In 1986, Tom Mary Diane Burbank, living first in Exeter, New Hampshire then moving to Enosburg Falls, Vermont and Eliot, Maine. Tom's many interests included skiing camping horseshoe pitching billiards and dancing. Tom leaves behind his wife, Diane Burbank, daughter, Cynthia, Billings, and her husband Gregory, daughter, Elizabeth Conaton, and her husband Thomas, stepchildren Sue and John Downey, Steve and Cheryl Porter, and Doug and Dawn Porter as well as nine grandchildren, Blake Downey, Brooke Downey, Thomas Conaton, Christopher Billings, Clifford Porter, Joseph Conaton, Zachary Porter, Nathaniel Porter and Sabrina Porter. Thomas proceeded in death by his daughter Laurel Burbank.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's memory to cystic fibrosis foundation or Wentworth Home Care and Hospice.
Friends are invited to join with Tom's family to celebrate his life on Friday April 26, 2024 at 11am in his church the First Congregational Church of Eliot, United Church of Christ 1361 State Rd, Eliot, ME 03903 With the Rev.
