Obituary

Eliot- Thomas H. Jenkins, 81 of River Road in Eliot died on November 23, 2014 at his home. Born in Kittery on December 1, 1932 he was a son of George WM and Elizabeth ( McCarthy ) Jenkins. He attended local schools including RW Traip Academy where he graduated with the class of 1950. Tom proudly served his country as a member of the United States Airforce as a Police Officer. In 1951 he married his loving wife Helene ( Rousseau ) Jenkins and together they built a home and raised their family in Eliot . He worked for over sixteen years as a carpenter at EL Patterson and Son in Portsmouth before working at the Portsmouth Naval shipyard retiring from shop # 64 after twenty years of service. Later in life Tom enjoyed working at Northeast Auto Auctions in Kittery for several years. Active in his community he coached little league baseball, volunteered for BSA Troop # 340 when needed, and was a strong supporter of the Marshwood Football Boosters. Tom was a life member of Masonic Lodge # 184 of Kittery serving as Past Master in 1969, until his death he was the oldest living Past Master, Chapter, Commandry and KORA Temple Shrine. He also,served for many years on the Board of Directors for Levi and Shua Brook Memorial Park in Eliot. His first love was unquestionably his family, enjoying researching the family tree and setting up family reunions, long day trips with family and holidays were some of his favorite times. For many years he and his wife would visit up to a hundred and fifty homes in town as Santa, to ensure kids had a good Christmas. he enjoyed hunting and fishing on his boat especially at the Isles of Shoals. He always looked for a home project or yard work to keep busy. He is survived by his loving family; his wife Helene of sixty three years of Eliot , three sons Joseph, Bryan and his wife Ann, and Russell all of Eliot. Eight grandchildren: Amanda Jenkins of Rochester NH, Megan Chapman and husband John of Rochester NH, Melanie Marasca and husband Jay of Lebanon ME, Jamie Pisano and husband Damian of South Berwick ME, Jason Jenkins and his wife Dawn of South Berwick ME, Melissa Jenkins of Eliot ME, Matthew Jenkins of Eliot ME, and Michelle Jenkins of Eliot ME. and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers George H, Daniel J and Jim Jenkins. Sisters Corinne Goff and Nancy Jo Lapham. The family would like to give a very special thank you to Dr. Sonneborn, Dr Becht and Dr Nixon and staff at the Seacoast Cancer Center. Dr Evans and staff at Manchester Urology, Dr Christine Munroe and staff, Dover Rehab and Beacon Hospice for the exceptional care given to Tom. A celebration of Tom's life will be held on Saturday April 18,2015 from noon to 3 pm in the York American Legion Post on Hannaford Drive in York Maine 03909.
