Timothy Dean
Francois
Mar 16, 1950 — Feb 23, 2023
Timothy Dean Francois, 72, of Nottingham, NH, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 23, 2023. Born on March 16, 1950 to George H. Francois II and Sylvia (Chick) Francois, he was raised in Portsmouth, NH with older brother George H. Francois III (Firefighter Butch) and younger brother Dana in the tight-knit "Puddle Dock" neighborhood.
He graduated from Portsmouth High School with the Class of 1968. After graduation, he went on to work at the family business "George's Auto Body". Eventually he would go on to co-own and operate the business with Dana after their father retired. He also worked at a few other Auto Body shops in the Seacoast area. After his retirement he became restless and went on to work at the Greenland Transfer Station. He looked forward to going to work with his co-workers, especially Bobby G. who became his most profound mentor. He enjoyed interacting with the local residents, whether helping them to unload or joking with them. He had many 4-legged friends come in and always had a pocket full of dog biscuits to pass out.
Tim had an abundance of wonderful qualities that friends and family will cherish forever, with a gift for knowing just what a loved one needed to hear or feel at just the right moments. He would always take the time to help others whenever he could without hesitation. If you needed help organizing or completing a project, he was a taskmaster, a highly experienced author of the best "To Do" lists. Just ask Gary Kuhn his lifelong buddy, who made detailed diagrams of their planned projects. When they got together to compare their lists of things to do, LOOK OUT?!
If someone needed support during tough times he was there to lend an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on, making sure you had no doubts about being valued. If you were frustrated and felt stuck there, he could offer an alternative, and most often hilarious point of view. It was important to him to demonstrate and show respect to elders. During frequent visits with his mother Sylvia at the nursing home, he would take some time to entertain and uplift the other residents with a lighthearted joke or an off tune duet with his singing grand-pup Finnegan by his side. The residents were elated and would exclaim "Here Comes The Singing Dog" Finny was a Carolina Dog (a specific breed) from a rescue in the South. He would howl anytime that anyone sang a tune, even Christmas carols. Tim always wanted to make an impact to make the seniors laugh, plus they had pets of their own in their life that they desperately missed.
A talented landscaper and gardener with the greenest of thumbs, he particularly loved nurturing his fragrant Angel Trumpets & Brugmansias, alongside a vibrant fruit and vegetable patch. Anyone leaving after a visit could plan on lugging a Market Basket shopping bag full of the harvest to take home.
Tim had a soft heart for animals, especially dogs, with which he had great patience for training. You could easily notice that the grand-pups were much better behaved after taking them home with him for the weekend. He always made sure the bird feeders in the yard were topped off for his feathered friends except for bear season. Everyone looked forward to seeing his latest contraptio designed to slow down the most persistent squirrels without causing them harm.
Tim was predeceased by his beloved son Justin, his parents George and Sylvia, Brothers Butch and Dana, and his special nephew Jeremy Francois.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Adam Francois and Dusty Leigh of Berwick, ME. His loving Aunts and Uncles, many, many special cousins, nieces and nephews. Since both of his brothers passed away, he treasured his relationships with his niece Shannon Francois and her family in Greenland and Dover, NH, as well as George (Butchie) Francois of Wakefield, NH. He also leaves behind sister-in-law Tanya Jackson and her family in SC and LA, brother-in-law David Landry and Cindy in CA. He is also survived by all of the family dogs Gomez, Chewy, Piper, and Teddy three of whom were rescue dogs, also Cookie the cat.
He will be sorely missed by his trusted, loyal group of friends (who know who they are) and always appreciated his sense of humor, sarcasm, and his infectious laugh.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made "In Memory Of Tim Francois" to the NHSPCA SOS Fund. 104 Portsmouth Ave. Stratham, NH 03885
A Celebration of Life and Family Reunion will be announced at a later date.
The family apologizes for the delay in posting this obituary, as his death was a sudden shock to all of us, including friends, and beyond devastating.
