Obituary

Tyler Colby Meyer

7/23/91 – 9/5/23

Tyler was born and raised here in Kittery attending Kittery schools and maintaining a small but close knit group of life-long friends.

Growing up Tyler enjoyed family time, video games, watching sports, playing with his cousins and often competitive games at family gatherings. He had a great way of expressing this through his funny faces and wise-guy comments. There was a lot of Uno, Mille Bornes, canasta, darts, chess, rummy, shooting pool and a lot of "Go Pats!"

He worked primarily in the restaurant/hospitality industry but held other jobs as well. He was a hard worker and was respected and appreciated by those he worked with and those he worked for. The residents at Kittery Estates loved him. He engaged with them all every time he entered the dining room, he was not 'just' a sous chef. He sincerely cared about them. If you meet anyone he worked with in any line of work they would tell you what a great person he is and they would always ask how he was and send their best.

Tyler enjoyed special times with his family, particularly when out of town. Trips to see his grandparents Jack and Robin Goodwin in Greenville come to mind where he shared many good times with them and the rest of his family boating, hiking, four-wheeling, etc. These trips grew few and far-between later in life as he worked a lot but those visits were high on his list of the things he loved.  He also shared some great trips to Mexico with Kayla Stacy, his Dad Art, step-mom Chrissy, and his aunt and uncle, Pam and Craig. There were also a lot of silly New Years Eves at home with family and fireworks and backyard fires. Endless hours of horsing around with his brother Joseph and sisters Kalauna and Emily back in the day. There was a lot of love and that love goes on.

Tyler loved fiercely and was as loyal a friend as you could ask for, he never sugar coated his opinions but there was always truth and yes, sarcasm and a dark sense of humor that he used to convey his feelings as well as his compassion. You always knew where you stood with him. As a loved one shared with us "He was usually quiet but as soon as he opened his mouth he would say something to make you laugh. So witty, he was one of the smartest people you'll ever meet and he loved his family and his animals with all his heart."

Tyler passed away suddenly on September 5 after a long struggle with addiction.

He was 96 days sober and was excited at the outlook of the good things to come and he shared with friends that he was "the happiest he'd ever been".  Sadly, he will never get to realize these hopes.

He was predeceased by his brother Joseph LaClair with whom he shared many happy (and goofy) memories and years of happiness before Joseph's untimely death in 2005 which left a deep void in him.

He is survived by his mother Sharon Navarro and step-dad Randy, his father Art Meyer and step-mom Christina, his grandmother Robin Goodwin, his sisters Kalauna Cameron and brother-in-law Kyle Cameron, Emily Navarro, Amanda Welch and her husband Stephen Welch, his brothers Caleb Foster and Stephen Connell and his ex-wife and life-long friend Kayla Stacy.  His many nieces and nephews; Nathan LaClair , Dominic and Lucy Cameron, Brynn and Madison Tuttle, Mercedes, Gage and Mason Welch and Penelope Foster, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

His many pets were also some of his favorite people (his pack) Comet, Bella, Chewie,  BabyFace, and Toulouse and he loved them dearly.
