Obituary

Verna Rose MacMahan Davis, 88, of Eliot, ME, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on August 17, 2025. Born on December 21, 1936, in Portsmouth, NH, she is the youngest daughter of the late Clarence D. and Lena C. MacMahan.

Verna was a graduate of Eliot High School and one of their star basketball players. Verna spent the majority of her professional career at Northeast Credit Union, passionately serving its members and staff in many capacities, from Teller to Trainer to Branch Manager, over her decades of service, where she was highly regarded in each role by members and coworkers alike. She obtained her Practical Nursing certification in 1972 but soon returned to the credit union where she remained until retirement. Verna was a remarkable woman with a love for people, sports, and the great outdoors. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing board games, tennis, watching football, camping, hiking and relaxing at her cottage on the lake at Alton Bay. One of her favorite outdoor adventures was a visit to the giant redwoods in California with her sister, Roberta. She loved caring for her many dogs and cats over the years, and seemed fond of surprising family members with the latest pet she had come across that she just had to take in.

Verna is survived by her sister Roberta Spinney, sons Mike Davis and Charlie Davis and his wife Ellen, three grandchildren Kaitlin Rose Davis, Ryan Davis, Jonathan Davis and his wife Jessica, one great-grandson Henry Patrick Davis, and other close relatives.

Verna is pre-deceased by her brother, Clarence Delbert MacMahan, and her daughter, Sandra Davis. Cherished memories of Verna will live on in the hearts of her loved ones, who know they will see her again in the loving presence of their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at J.S.
