WALLACE N. MILLER
Wallace, aged 97, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on May 17, 2021.
He was born May 13, 1924, in Portsmouth, NH, to the late Wilbur & Pauline (Piche') Miller. He lost his parents at a very young age and h e and his sister Elinor were adopted and raised by their maternal grandparents, the late Eugene and Annie Piche'.
In 1942 , Wallace was drafted into the Army/Air Force . He served in the 48th Air Depot in Burma and India during WWII from 1944 to 1946 as a radio operator and flew medical supplies to and from China and Burma. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star.
Upon returning to Portsmouth he met the love of his life Rose (Dolly) Carini and they married in August 1948. They made their home in Kittery and raised their family. They were married nearly 73 years.
His first job after the war was for Maselli Construction where he helped construct Route 95. He also worked in his uncle's "Wallace 's Market" in Kittery, a butcher at Hannaford's in Portsmouth, a salesma n for Granite State Tobacco Co, in Dover, a Supervisor at United Technology in Newmarket for 25 years , and r etired from the Maine State Liquor Store in 1985. He was also self employed as an income tax preparer for over 40 years.
Wallace spent many years coaching Kittery Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. He enjoyed golfing and was an avid Patriots, Red Sox, and Celtic's fan. He even took his bride to a double header in Boston on their honeymoon. What he loved most was spending time with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife Rose, daughter Pauline and husband Emery Myshrall, Jr., daughter Karen and husband Tommy Averill, son Wallace J. Miller, and daughter Kim and husband Dan Terrence, all of Kittery.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He is predeceased by their infant son, Wallace N. Miller, Jr. and sister Elinor Feurhan.
Private funeral services will be held in June.
