Portsmouth- Wanda Willey-St. John, 72, passed away on March 2, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loved ones following a period of failing health.
Wanda was born in Portsmouth on August 5, 1944. She was a true native of the city attending local schools and graduating from Portsmouth High School. She is predeceased by her parents, Omar and Marion (Powell) Winn, her sister, Winona "Nonie" Winn, her brother, Richard Winn and a daughter, Kelly Anne.
Wanda raised four daughters in the city and was a devoted employee of Portsmouth Hospital for many years where she was admired by the staff she worked with. She had a special way of ensuring that the doctors at Portsmouth Hospital completed their often-hated administrative tasks on time and was happiest telling jokes and talking with her colleagues. Wanda enjoyed time spent with her beloved sister as they traveled throughout the Seacoast playing bingo and eating dinner or going out for ice cream together.
She is survived by her loving family; her daughters: Donna and Donald Grassi, Shari and Scott Smith (whom she lived with), Wendy (Palmer) and Peter Naples and Tina (Gallant) and Jeremy Bernier; grand-children: Jamie, Danielle, Steven, Stacie, Brandon, Shane, Shawn, Sarah, Courtney, Kelley and Miah as well as several great-grand children. She also leaves behind many friends, including those who were like family -Darlene Griffin and Leslie Lindquist.
