Obituary

Eliot- William F. Gordon, 81, passed away on December 7, 2023 after a period of failing health. Bill was born July 10, 1942 in York, Maine, the oldest child of Donald Gordon and Grace (Abbott) Gordon McDuffee. He was raised and educated in Kittery, graduating from Traip Academy in 1960.  Upon graduation, he entered the apprenticeship program at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

In 1964, Bill married the love of his life Carla M. (Fickett) Gordon. They moved to Eliot in 1970 where they raised their children. Bill enjoyed attending his children's school activities, concerts, plays and sports.

Bill enjoyed camping, boating and fishing at Nason's Beach on Sebago Lake for over 40 years. During his eight decades, he enjoyed deer and moose hunting, bowling, golfing, snowmobiling, watching the Boston Red Sox and New York Giants, and playing cards with family and friends.

He began his career at the Yard as an apprentice pipefitter, then worked as a machinist, Production Controller, and Supervisor in Production Control. After 35 years, he retired as an Industrial Program Specialist.

Bill and his wife Carla enjoyed retirement, going on a Caribbean cruise, traveling to Hawaii and Alaska, and taking several bus tours of the U.S. Bill and Carla were married for 59 years.

Bill was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, daughter Lisa Gordon Biederwolf and husband Kurt, son Chris Gordon and his wife Julie, and three siblings: brother Richard Gordon and his wife Sharon, and sisters Nancy Hustus and her husband Reggie, and Janice Gordon Maloney. He loved his five grandchildren Nathan, Keaton, and Kiersten Gordon, and Alex and Laura Biederwolf, as well as his great-granddaughter Autumn Rayne Gordon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Beacon Hospice who cared for Bill as well as the South Wing nurses at The Edgewood Center.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 16 at 11:00 am at Living Water United Methodist Church, 238 Harold L. Dow Highway, Eliot, ME 03903. Family and friends are invited to attend a lunch reception at the church following the private graveside service.
