Obituary

Somersworth- Bill Hathaway joined his loved ones in Heaven on September 20, 2015 at Hyder Family Hospice House after a battle with sepsis, gangrene and stage 5 Parkinson's disease. He was born September 11, 1942 to the late William Hathaway and Doris (Brown) Hathaway of Rye, NH Bill served in the Army as a mechanic. Upon returning, he worked in heavy construction as a foreman and supervisor for many years until he became disabled. Despite his disability, Bill continued to work part time for Patterson & Sons construction. Later he worked as a greeter at the Somersworth Walmart. In 1965 Bill married the love of his life his "dream girl" Linda. Together they raised two daughters Sheri and Kendra in the house Bill built in Somersworth. Bill and Linda lost their second daughter Kendra (Hathaway) Alexis 15 years ago. It nearly killed them both. Bill is with Kendra now. Bill's greatest joys in life came from spending time with his family. He was a powerful man known for his big hugs that he gave wholeheartedly to those that he loved. Bill had a passion for NASCAR racing and shared a love of horses with Linda. Some of his most cherished memories were of day-long trail rides on their horses. Bill is survived by his wife Linda (Patterson) Hathaway, daughter Sheri (Hathaway) Reed, her husband Mark Reed, grandchildren Andrew Reed and Brittany Reed - his "jewels", sister in law, June (Patterson) (Kelley) Picard, brothers in law, Eddie Patterson and Brian Patterson, and son in law Gregg Alexis. He is also survived by his dear cousin Cheryl (Ireland) Duffy, who was our "rock" throughout his illness. Uncle Bobby Brown, Aunt Enid (Brown) and husband Bob Davis. Cousins Eddie, Diane, Sharon and Sandy, as well as his nieces, nephews, and many special cousins in his Patterson family. Cherished family friends, our "Ohio Angel" Mary Louise Gamelia, Dean Tibbetts, Danielle (Tibbetts) Alvarado and Dawn (Tibbetts) Wolfert. His childhood friends Bobby Brown, Perry Trefethen and Jimmy Remick were at Bills side during a difficult time in his passing. The love and support you all gave was amazing. Services will be held on Saturday October 10, 2015 at 1:00 pm Grace Community Church, 159 Rochester Hill Road, Rochester, NH. In Lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Bill may be made to Friends of Hyder Family Hospice House.
