Eliot- William C. Rollins, 93, of Brixham Road in Eliot died peacefully on January 30, 2017 at his daughter Rhonda's home following a period of failing health.
Born December 1, 1923 in York, Maine. William attended local schools before serving his country as a member of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.
Bill worked and retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a driller and served for many years as a local carpenter. He also worked for Dion's Lumber Yard.
He was a dedicated member of the Eliot American Legion Post #188, the Southern Maine Fish and Game and the Eliot United Methodist Church which he helped to build. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading. He loved going to the camp he built for his daughter Gloria and husband Mark in Dexter, Maine.
His first love was undoubtedly his family, he is survived by his loving wife of nearly seventy five years Virginia (Gerry) Rollins of Eliot, children; Gloria Blake and husband Mark of Eliot, William Rollins and wife Shirley of Rochester, Nancy MacIntire and husband Micum of Eliot, Rhonda Locke and husband Bob of Kittery, Vanessa Rackliff of Eliot, grandchildren;Scott Blake and wife Valerie, William Rollins and wife Bonnie, Stephen Rollins and wife Amanda, Tami-Jo Rollins, Brian Rollins and wife Jennifer, Shawn MacIntire, Troy Locke and wife Amy, Karen Walker and boyfriend Luke Allen and Heidi Rackliff. And fourteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sisters; Ethel Hubbard, Elizabeth Perkins, Evelyn Peabody, Madeline Huntress and Lena Morse. brothers; Andy, Harold, Norman, Everett, Edward and Herbert Rollins and grandchildren Terry Blake and Kevin Rollins.
Friends are invited to visit with Bill's family on Saturday February 4, 2017 from 10 am to noon in the Eliot United Methodist Church where a funeral will be celebrated at noon with the Rev. Sue Frost officiating. A time of sharing and refreshment will follow in the church parish hall. Care for the Rollins family has been entrusted to the JS Pelkey Funeral Home.
