Obituary

Wilma L. Rideout, formally of Kittery, Maine, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday September 30, after a long illness. B orn to Cadet and Leah (Henry) Brown, December 13 th , 1937 in Pompey, NY, she was youngest of ten . Wilma grew up on the family farm until the age of 16, when she moved to Syracuse, NY. She was married twice, first to Herbert Glidden with whom she had three children then to Neil A Rideout, Sr with whom she had two children.

Locally, Wilma worked at the Sparkle Spot Laundry in Kittery , M E , and the lunch counter at JJ Newberry's , in Portsmouth, NH .  While living in Connecticut she worked at Brick Top Laundry and in Presque Isle, M E , she worked at Potato Service and Cole 's Express . The work she was most proud of was raising her children and being a Mother and sister to many.

Wilma loved her Boston Red Sox and was known to be very vocal during games.  Wilma's favorite holiday was Christmas and she most certainly took it to the next level , decorating her ho me from ceiling to the floor, it was truly a wonderland and brought joy to many.

Wilma was pre deceased by her brothers, Ladauit Henry, Arthur Brown, Fred and wife Ruth Brown, Amos (Jack) Brown , Merwin (Murph) and wife Pat Brown, Russell and wife Phyllis Brown,  Ruth (Bud) and husband, Ed Comer, Beatrice and husband Bill Mosier, Christine (Dolly) and husband Joe Lewis. Sons, Martin and Joseph Glidden.

Survived by daughter Kerry (Rideout) and husband Jeff Farren, s on Neil Rideout Jr and wife Aimee, s on Phil and wife Terry Carpenter, s on Herbert Glidden. Sister-in-Law, Beatrice Brown. Grandchildren Br y an and Amanda Farren, Ashley and Troy Walker and Daniel and Amy Farren. Jolena Glidden, Misty Glidden, Christina Glidden, Ste v en Carpenter and Shelly (Carpenter) Anderson. Great grandchildren, Lucas, Ryker, Levi and Lylah.

Friends are invited to visit with Wilmas family on Thursday October 7 from 4-6pm in the JS Pelkey Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery Maine 03904. A funeral will be celebrated on Friday October 8 at 10am in the funeral home.
