Kittery- Elizabeth R. Rainier, 93, formerly of Dennett Road in Kittery died on April 12, 2020 at the Edgewood Centre in Portsmouth where she had made her home for a number of years.
Born in Eliot on September 26, 1926 she was a daughter of Edward and Marion ( Milliken) Maby. She was raised in Kittery in the home she lived in her entire life. A graduate of R.W. Traip Academy class of 1944 she went on to earn a teaching degree from Bates College and attended further education in Aurora Ill.
She met and later married her loving husband of over fifty eight years Ralph " Andy " Rainier who predeceased her in 2008.
She was a beloved special education teacher at Horace Mitchell School in Kitttery Point for over twenty five years. Elizabeth and Andy enjoyed over fifty years as active members of the Portsmouth Advent Christian Church and later in life found a church home at the " Little Church on the River" in Eliot, at the South Eliot Advent Christian Church where she enjoyed over twenty years as a member.
Elizabeth enjoyed many years of travel with her husband in their camper all over the United States and parts of Canada, as well as an entire season in Alaska.
She is survived by her loving family; sons Stanley A. of Seattle, WA, Philip and his wife Denise Rainier of Lakewood, CA and Frederick R. of Dover, NH; grandchildren Ben, Emily, Carrie,Jillian, Catie, Nicholas,Hannah and Haley, and eight great grandchildren; and a son in law Greg Bolton. She was predeceased by her husband, and a daughter Dorothy " Dot" Bolton as well as her brothers Edward Maby, Ernest Maby, Earl Maby and a sister Mildred Cushman.
